In Software Center you will see an Install for Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client: Click on this icon and choose 'INSTALL' 4. Once it is downloaded go back to search and type in Cisco to bring up the app. Right-Click the app and choose to pin it to your task-bar or start menu so it is quick and easy to find. Jadyr Pavao and I have the same issue. Update: It looks like AnyConnect and the nacl-development-environment plugin may have a conflict. Following Pete's recommendation, I removed the nacl-development-environment plugin, removed and reinstalled AnyConnect, and vpn is working again. Cisco AnyConnect is an eternally-on protection for company employees regardless of the kind of connection they have. The application enables them to work without hindrances wherever they are on secured networks. With Cisco AnyConnect, companies also gain a deeper understanding of their users’ and endpoints’ behaviors. When a message saying the Cisco AnyConnect client has been installed, click OK. Connect to the Stanford VPN. Launch the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client client. If you don't see Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client in the list of programs, navigate to Cisco Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

The Remote Access VPN is a virtual private network that creates a safe and encrypted connection over the Internet.

Cisco Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client

You may connect to the VPN to securely access on-campus UGA systems from off-campus. You may also use it to gain access to restricted or sensitive information while on-campus.

You can download the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client from the app store appropriate for your device or from the UGA Remote Access page.

If you are having difficulty installing directly from the enterprise VPN, the following stand alone installers are available:

  • AnyConnect for Windows — this file contains the AnyConnect version for Windows.
  • AnyConnect for Linux — this file contains the AnyConnect version for Linux.
  • AnyConnect for MacOS — this file contains the 64-bit AnyConnect version for Mac OSX. The installation comes with several modules that are not needed. If the option is available to you, you will need to uncheck parts of the installation package as indicated in the following image:

We recommend using either Firefox or Google when downloading the AnyConnect for Windows installer.

There are known issues associated with both Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge when used to download the AnyConnect version for Windows.

To log in to the VPN, you will need to use ArchPass, UGA’s two-step login solution powered by Duo. You can enroll devices in Duo through the Self-Service Portal on the ArchPass website.

To connect to the VPN:

  1. Open your VPN client and type remote.uga.edu
  2. Choose a VPN Group
  3. Enter your MyID and Password
  4. In the “Second Password” field, either enter a passcode generated by your Duo Mobile App or type in your authentication method:
  • Push – receive push notification
  • SMS – receive passcode via text message
  • Phone – receive phone call to mobile or landline

01 Default is for general VPN use, to gain access to on-campus UGA systems while off-campus. It is available to any UGA student, faculty and staff member. Most users will choose this group.

Client

Each time you log in to the Remote Access VPN you will receive an email notice. This process is intended to help minimize fraudulent logins to the VPN.

The notice will come from soc@uga.edu and have the subject line 'Alert: UGA Remote Access VPN Login...'

If you have not logged in to the Remote Access VPN and receive an email notice, your MyID password may be compromised.

In that case, you should contact UGA's Office of Information Security by emailing abuse@uga.edu. You will be asked to provide information in the email notice.

Install VPN

Download the package

Locate the VPN installer you downloaded (anyconnect.exe) and double-click the exe to run the installer.

Click the Next button to proceed.

Select the I accept the terms in the License Agreement radio button then click the Next button to proceed.

Click the Install button to proceed.

Click the Finish button to complete installation.

Connect to VPN

Locate and launch the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client application in your Start Menu to proceed.

Enter vpn.iastate.edu in the text field then click the Connect button to proceed.

Select SSLvpn in the Group drop-down menu. Enter your ISU Net-ID and password in the Username and Password fields then click the OK button to connect to VPN.

Disconnect from VPN

Locate the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client icon in your task-bar to proceed.

Right-click the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client icon and click Quit in the drop-down menu to disconnect from VPN.
